Recreating Urban Warfare

I had a Client, who specializes in making optical devices for defense work.  They needed to update some of their product shots for their optical devices.  Through some convenient use of white balance and colored gels we were able simulate a more realistic environment for their use instead of a hot summer afternoon by the Georgetown waterfront.

Too Cool for Comfort

Pat, an old ship-mate of mine, got a chance to get away from his "demanding" job at the Naval Academy to enjoy some relaxing time on the Chesapeake.  I took this rare opportunity to catch him with a nice two day shadow to help instill fear in some of his students.

Supreme Court Justice Alito and Moot Court

You can't exactly take a camera into the Supreme Court (else all of the courtroom artists would be put out of business) so a rare opportunity to catch him in his dress robes.  Congratulations to my friend Jack for doing a superb job in the finals.

Student Fair Brings Fun Around

There's nothing like the juxtaposition of a giant climbing wall with a giant clock tower.  Add to the mix cotton candy, grilled meat, and log roll, and all of a sudden law school looks fun!

Beautiful Day

I do a lot of my work at Georgetown Law School, so when you're going back and forth between events and the weather is beautiful, you just have to grab shots and make the ordinary into the extra-ordinary.

And of course you get a chance to play around with wide angle distortion when you're not screwing up anybody's face.

HSC Kids in Action - Basketball

Another program called "Kids in Action" put on by HSC Pediatric Center. Many of the therapists, along with community volunteers come together to help special needs children experience team play the thrill of running around the basketball court.  Seeing the Joy on their faces always makes it worth getting up early on a Saturday.

Enchanting Halls of Government

Something about this passageway grabs a lot of people.  In fact, it's always interesting to put someone in that first window on the right and make them do something zanny....maybe another post....for now we only get the couple fading away.

Pemba

Pemba is an adorable creature who watches over our neighbor's twins and was creating some lasting memories in the bush before they were cut down.  You think kids are bad to get to sit still....try taking a stick away from this one.

Rare Family Moments

Now that we live across the country from most of Debbie's family, there are rare moments when they can see each other, so a picture was a great opportunity.  Plus you can't get sunsets over the beach in DC.

I brought a small umbrella down the beach, gelled it warm to camera right and used some make-shift sandbags (there was enough sand to go around) to keep it in place as the wind blows.

Beach Cruisin'

While in San Diego, my Wife's sister, Laura, got us some complementary rides by a friend of hers who runs a bike shop. I love it I can give someone something in exchange for a friendly gesture.
(Editor's note: I'm not sure if [W]ife should be capitalized, but I better just in case)

Pacific Beach and Pier

One of the things to miss about living in San Diego is the ready access to the beach and surfing (my surfboard is now collecting dust). This flag delineating the line between surfers and swimmers serves as a reminder.

The Crystal pier hotel has rooms that are built on the pier so the waves crash underneath of your room. I had to wait with people staring at me for a long time until that pesky bird would fly into the correct spot....just like photographing children....they never cooperate.

San Diego Scenery

We went for a walk down along Pacific Beach just to enjoy the great weather and great company.  If  anyone walks Pacific Beach much the'd recognize the last guy as an icon always doing crazy moves and dancing to his tunes on roller blades.

The life of luxury

This little guy ride in the back of a personalized do carrier built into his owner's vespa.  Twice a day he driven down to the beach to sit on a bench and look at the ocean.

Innauguration

I almost didn't bring a camera today as I thought it would be sufficiently documented, but I luckily brought it could and capture some of the smaller moments surrounding Debbie and Me on the way to and at the Washington Monument.

Sacrificing body for the game

Spent a night in the frigid cold waiting for buses to travel in front of the a few good spots by the capitol and the Supreme Court. That and getting approached by cops to tell me I can't have a tri-pod.

Obligatory Metro Shot

It seems as though every photographer in DC has to have some sort of metro station shot, so here it goes. Once I get my wide angle lens I may revisit this.
